Day Thirty One - Q22 (Adelaide)

Hey Guys.....

I know its been a while yet again but to be honest there hasn't been much to report about at all. Sad life i know....:)

This place is starting to live up to its name of being the 'Most boring place in Oz' and that fact that we have been stuck in class studying ATPL Air Law for the entire last week and this week doesn't help the cause much either.....

Well apart from that the weather has settled right down and its the usual cold and rainy 17 C is back in town....much nicer.

I can't believe it, but i have already been down here for a month now....the time is flying. The good thing is that we have sooo much study to do that we are kept quite busy and are staring to not have much time for other things. Nerd alert!

The highlight of the week was definitely April Fool's Day prank that we played on our two favourite Cathay Pacific boys.....Pat (Canadian) and Kyle (NZ). In short, we acquired approx 2000 litres of bean bag filler (beans) with help from Younis our special Emirates friend and proceeded to fill Pat and Kyle's shared car (BMW) with the lot. Oh yeah and a couple of balloons were thrown in too...;)

Their car had had its two front windows smashed in by some of Salisbury's finest protege's a couple of weeks prior......and they hadn't managed to get them fixed in time. This is what gave us the perfect access to the car. Well any way it was a perfectly executed midnight mission. After a quick taping up of the two front windows and a opening of the sun roof.....we all preceded in emptying 20 bags of bean bag beans into the car....hilarious!!!

Have some great pics of the entire gig....Priceless. And the best thing is that the Cathay boys took the gag well...Thank god. We had been on edge the entire day.

Can't wait for the next 5 months that we all have to live in constant fear of revenge...how very relaxing......Greatest Times ;)

That's pretty much it, so back to the books as we have our first of the 7 ATPL exams next Wednesday....and in between plenty of study as usual.

Talk soon,

Capt Chop.

Day Fifteen - QF22 (Adelaide)

Hey Guys,

I know I know its been slack from my side not having updated my blog for quite some time now but to be totally honest.....not much has happened. Things would get very boring very quickly.

Well anyway, to give you a bit of an insight into the life of a QF cadet, if we are not eating or studying we are in the gym playing our 'fav' game....Badminpong. To keep it short, this game was invented purely through boredom. A lot of it going around down here...;)

Its us playing table tennis on a badminton court and big net using bats and pingpong balls.....amazing yeh? Gotta try it. Definitely wastes several hours in the afternoon....;)

Yesterday was a big blow to all of us with the announcement that we would have to delay our 8 weeks flying, due to the aircraft having problems and having to go straight to our 10 weeks theory and exams instead. Awesome...NOT! The boys were not happy, especially after getting all amped up last week, but there is nothing we can do about it. Heads back into the books yet again.....

But we did get to play in the brand new simulators this morning. Great fun. So looking forward to it.....in 10 weeks time!! ;) Apart from that we all had a couple of exams during the week but no probs at all. Everyone did very well. Great times! Looks like Fri night at the student bar could be a good one....

Thank god the heat wave is officially over (not sure if its really official yet), a nice cool 28C today. Much better.

Thats really all this time,

talk soon,

Capt Chop.

Day Six - QF22 (Adelaide)

Hey guys...

First of all quite surprised at the amount of comments already on my blog....v noice! And yes i will try and keep it going and keep you all up to date as best i can....;)

Second of all i cant believe i am updating my blog on this Sat morning after having had the 'real' Induction last night with the other students at the 'Student Bar'. Wow! If only there was a way to describe how sick I actually feel after having had a taste of pretty much everything the bar had to offer. For starters it is extreemly tempting when beers (Crownies/Jameas Boags etc.), wines and spirits.... are only $2.20!!! Nuts i know! So that's why we got a full work out by the other students last night and i am suffering for it today...

We even had to have the renouned 'Qantas special' that every course has to have on thier first Friday in the bar. It is mostly open on Fri.... Anyway the drink is otherwise known as 'The Flaming Lamborghini'...say no more. It nearly killed me....and pretty much it all went down hill from there...

I am kind of getting the vibe that everyone works thier butts of during the week so that they can then unleash on Fri nights at the bar....something to look forward to!;)

Well enough of my drinking stories, the rest of my week was good. Still sitting in class all day doing ground school and study, got our first in house exam next Fri. Fun Times...

But apart from that, we are all just hanging to get into the flying which should be in 2 weeks time....bring it on!

Am off to get some of that 'black doctor' stuff,

so hope your all well, talk soon

Day One - QF22 (Adelaide)

Hey Guys,

Had the first 'real' day down here at Flight Training Adelaide as a Qantas Cadet, which consisted of 7 hours ground school theory....how exciting!
But thankfully the last couple of days have been very relaxing meeting all the other cadets around campus (Cathay Pacific / Emirates / China Airlines and Japan Airlines) and even managed to test the local golf course too. ;)
The rest of the Qantas guys are a ball and i think that we will get a long great over the next 6 months.
Apart from QF Pilot Recruitment coming down to visit us yesterday and spoiling us with a tab behind the bar and a very noice BBQ not much has really happened....lots more to come though i promise!

Thats all from Capt Chop down in stinking hot Adelaide...

Take care,

Drew.
